Arbutin is a chemical component found in Manzanita commonly used to treat urinary tract infections. This is due to its antibacterial qualities against E Coli. It can be in the form of a UTI tea, which can also remedy stomach problems, rheumatism, and inflammation of the joints, tissues, and kidneys.

Consequently, the Earth element rules our kidneys and bladder. The bladder is considered the seed or storehouse of emotions, while the kidneys filter the blood and clean and balance the body. The kidneys are perceived as storing life force energy relating to the cycle of transformation and desire for life.
